Vaccines

Vaccines help prepare the body to fight infection by introducing a small amount of dead or damaged viral particles to develop a preliminary immune response and produce antibodies for future viral invaders.

Yerkes houses the Emory Vaccine Center (EVC), which was established in 1996. Yerkes and EVC scientists are collaborating to develop a vaccine for HIV/AIDS , hepatitis C, malaria and additional viral threats to the body.
