Chris Pinelli, DVM, PhD, DACVP

Veterinary Pathologist



Chris Pinelli earned his DVM degree from Mississippi State University in 2011. After graduation, he spent a short time in mixed animal ambulatory practice in Eagle, ID, before commencing his specialty training in Anatomic Pathology at University of Guelph in Fall 2011.

During his pathology training, Dr. Pinelli subspecialized in Laboratory Animal Pathology, receiving cases from UofG campus as well as external submissions from nearby academic institutions. He also completed a PhD in comparative pathology and cancer biology, studying the effect of inflammation on the progression to androgen independence in prostate cancer using mouse models.

Dr. Pinelli completed his pathology training and PhD in Spring 2016, joined Yerkes as a Veterinary Pathologist in Summer 2016 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2017. He is interested in collaborative research projects in comparative pathology and animal models of human disease as well as training externs and residents in anatomic and laboratory animal pathology.
