Center for AIDS Research
The Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), under the direction of Rollins School of Public Health Dean James Curran, MD, MPH, CFAR Director of Clinical Sciences and International Research Carlos del Rio, MD, and CFAR Director for Basic and Translational Science Eric Hunter, PhD, supports more than 120 Emory investigators engaged in HIV/AIDS research and provides crucial equipment and testing resources shared among CFAR researchers.
Two major elements of the CFAR, the Immunology Core and the Virology/Drug Discovery Core, are housed at Yerkes. Researchers in the Immunology Core test experimental samples of blood for key markers of immune functions, while those in the Virology Core perform assays quantifying virus levels and identifying drug-resistant strains. |
